COMEDK was entrusted the responsibility to conduct entrance examination to determine the merit of aspiring students in an effective, fair, transparent and non-exploitative procedure by KPCF (Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation –Medical & Dental) and KUPECA (Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association)

NIE is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University for the B.E. courses it offers. NIE subscribes to the directives of the Government of Karnataka and AICTE every academic year while granting admissions. Candidates should meet all eligibility criteria detailed below in addition to clearing CET/COMEDK/JEE entrance examinations. NIE has also reserved some seats under the Management quota.

Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

Candidates who have passed any Undergraduate examination with a minimum of 3 years or an equivalent examination with Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science  /          Computer Applications/Business Mathematics/Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate for all the subjects for the entire course duration are eligible for admission to the MCA programme.

Candidates who have passed one of the subjects specified above in the Pre-university programmes with a minimum of 50% marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission.

SC, ST and Category-I candidates should obtain a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate for the qualifying examinations.

Master of Technology (M.Tech.)

Candidates are eligible for M.Tech. programmes if they have a valid GATE score.

Candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination or equivalent examination in B.E. and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate for all the subjects for the entire course duration are eligible for admission to full time M.Tech. Programmes.

SC, ST and Category-I candidates should obtain a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate for the qualifying examinations.

Admissions are conducted as per the regulations of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU ).

Eligible candidates can contact the guide in the respective disciplines for both part-time and full-time M.Sc. Engineering (by Research) and Doctoral Programme admissions.

  • Admissions are conducted as per the regulations of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU ). Admission details are available from the office of NIE.
  • VTU notifies application twice a year in January and in August.

Limited number of seats are available under the Management quota.
• Applications are received from the prospective candidates – online or at the office
• The counselling and facilitation cell will provide complete information, brochure, application form and facilitates the Parents and Students on various queries they may have.
• Applications are processed on first come first served basis which meet the eligibility criteria as stipulated by KEA
• Fee will be as per consensual agreement with GoK, Development Fee and Other fee.

Following Eligibility Criteria will be considered:

  1.  SSLC/10th standard - You should have obtained minimum 60% marks in Mathematics and Science separately.
  2. 11th and 12th Standard - You should have obtained minimum 60% marks in mathematics and Physics seperately.
  3. Students should have compulsorily appeared and obtained a rank in KEA / COMEDK  /JEE Mains

  •  Under this category, ONLY ONE seat will be available
  •  The decision of allotment of seat under this category solely lies with the Management

Candidates should have represented the Junior/Sub-Junior team of Karnataka/any State of India or Union Territory of India in any of the following events during the previous academic year.
  •  Olympics recognised sports events
  •  Indian Olympic Association recognised sports events
  •  Association of Indian Universities recognised sports
  •  Sports like BCCI recognised Cricket, Indigenous Sports like Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, and Yoga recognised by the respective Karnataka State Olympic Association
  •  Pre-University Board recognised sports events
  •  Secondary Education Department recognised sport events
  •  Karnataka State Youth Empowerment and Sports Department recognised events
If candidates are involved with individual dominated sports (Athletics, Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming, Weight Lifting, Power Lifting, Best Physique, Squash, Golf, Shooting, Archery, Boxing, Taekwondo, Judo, Wrestling, and Cycling) where a ranking system is followed to select the State team, then the candidates should have a higher ranking preferably in the previous academic year. In case of Chess, candidates should have a minimum Elo rating of 1900 for men and 1600 for women.
Candidates must fulfil all other mandatory requirements such as the percentage of marks acquired in PUC/+12, K-CET / COMED-K or other competent authority ranking to make them eligible for a seat in B.E. at NIE.
Candidates should apply to the Secretary, NIE-Managing Committee with their credentials. Their application should be signed and endorsed by their parents.
If the candidate has represented Karnataka State Team in the PU Board/Secondary Education Department Sports meets such as School Games Federation of India organised eventsWaiver of Management fee. All other fees to be paid fully

If the candidate has represented Karnataka State Senior team in events recognised by the Indian Olympic Association/Respective Sport Federations in Inter-State Championships preferably during the previous academic year Waiver of 50% of development fee, tution fees to be paid in full.
If the candidate has represented India in Student Games/SAF Games at International events Waiver of 50% of development fee, tution fees to be paid in full.
If the candidate has represented Karnataka State/Any state of Indian/Union territory of India in Junior/Sub-Junior teams in recognized Sports Events Waiver of 50% of tution fee.
