Incepted in 1946, the Department of Chemistry, part of the umbrella Basic Sciences Department offers holistic training and a conducive environment for Undergraduate education, and research in Engineering Chemistry and related inter-disciplinary programmes. The department’s research and innovations are oriented towards mitigating risk and monitoring infrastructure and human health for a conducive environment. Innovations span polymer-based sensors for structural health monitoring, and tracking of stored water and device development to tap carbon from diesel engine vehicles supported by robust research.
