About Me:

My academic journey was started with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1983, followed by B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Mysore University in 1987 and M.Tech (Machine Dynamics) from IITM, Chennai. Ph.D was awarded in 2007 for the research work carried on Tribology of polymer composites from Anna University, Chennai. I have served at NIE for 30 years in various capacities as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Selection Grade Lecturer, Professor, Head of Centre for Composite Materials Research (CCMR), PG Coordinator for Machine Design, Dean (R&D), Member of Academic Council and Member of Academic and Examination Review Committees. My research work is focused on Materials Science, Polymer Composite Materials, Tribology in Polymer Composites, Light Weight Polymer Composites, Natural fiber Composites, Fracture and Fracture Toughness of Composites, Design with Composites, Nanocomposites. Also, some of my research work is in the field of Metal Matrix Composites, especially Al and Al based Nanocomposites. My research work has been resulted in more than 175 peer-reviewed Journal Publications and 10 Book Chapters. My research knowledge has been shared with young researchers in more than 200 International Conferences. My guidance towards research scholars has produced 7 Ph.D.’s in the field of Polymer Composites Tribology and 8 Ph.D.’s are in progress. Also, my research work has contributed the Institution with 5 sponsored projects and 1 filed Patent. My aim to exchange the knowledge with the researchers has resulted in organizing 3 international symposiums and several conferences/workshops. My research work has been appreciated by various organizations in the form of awards, namely Best Research Paper Award in 2016, “Marquis who’s who” in the 10thAnniversary Edition in Science and Engineering division (2010-2014), Best Research Publication Award from VGST, Govt. of Karnataka in 2015, Outstanding Reviewer Award by Elsevier in 2015-2019, Recognized Reviewer Award by Elsevier, Transactions of Indian Institute of Metals, and Journal of Serbian Tribology Society. Top one percent Peer Reviewer Award-2018 for placing in the top 1% of reviewer in Materials Science, Top one percent Peer Reviewer Award- 2019 for placing in the top 1% of reviewers in Cross-Field on Publons global reviewer database, and Top one percent Peer Reviewer Award-2019 for placing in the top 1% of reviewer in Materials Science.
