Title

"All things `Fourier': A Random Walk in Frequency Space"

Abstract

"The talk will start with asking a few puzzling questions about why sinusoids are "natural". The talk will start with the entire genesis:
Fourier's observation and breakthrough series representation, unify frequency domain approaches, look at how impulses are explained by hitting a baseball with a bat (and got Dirac some credibility in realistic work), relate the landmark FFT algorithm to sorting a set of numbers, and why linear shift-invariant systems are important, along with convolution."
