Overview
The National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) at NIE provides a comprehensive framework to nurture innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture among students and faculty. Aligned with the Government of India's vision of building a robust innovation ecosystem, NISP at NIE aims to create an environment where ideas can flourish into viable enterprises.
Guiding Framework
- Innovation Strategies: Structured programmes and initiatives to encourage creative thinking, problem-solving, and technology development across all departments.
- Incentives & Recognition: Awards, seed funding, and academic credits for students and faculty who develop innovative projects and startups.
- Incubation Support: Access to NIE's incubation centre with mentoring, workspace, networking opportunities, and connections to investors and industry partners.
- Intellectual Property (IP) Ownership: Clear policies on IP rights ensuring that inventors retain fair ownership of their creations while the institution supports commercialisation.
- Pedagogy Integration: Innovation and entrepreneurship modules integrated into the curriculum to build a startup mindset from the classroom level.
Implementation at NIE
NIE has established dedicated committees and cells to implement NISP across the institution. Regular bootcamps, ideathons, and mentor-connect sessions are organised to keep the innovation pipeline active. The institution also collaborates with external incubators, government agencies, and industry bodies to provide holistic support to aspiring entrepreneurs.
