Student Activities
A well-rounded individual, ready for the future—that's what NIE strives to mould every student into. Explore all extracurricular activities at NIE.

NIE believes in creating a generation of students who are not only academically brilliant but also talented in subjects outside of the classroom. Theatre workshops, State-level debate competitions, inter-collegiate cultural festivals, talks and seminars, quiz competitions — students at NIE are given the opportunity to participate in various cultural activities based on their interests. All the activities planned in the college are designed carefully to give the students exposure to different worldviews on current issues and trends, debate competitions tackling subjects of social relevance, discussions on topics such as philosophy, science and technology, and music.

NIE has always fostered an environment of innovation and creativity. Working in partnership with industry professionals, NIE provides students learning experiences to help prepare them for a bright future in the industry. The college has established various Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to give students the opportunity to conduct research and experiments in their area of specialty. The CoEs over the years have been instrumental in developing various innovative projesscts such as a bios gas plant for Mysuru Zoo, kitchen waste biogas plant at the NIE Boy’s hostel, rainwater harvesting at Mysuru Palace and more. Some of the other noteworthy student projects include a mobile planetarium, a dog wheelchair, and a prototype of a low-cost paddy transplanter.

At NIE, we encourage students to come together and work towards a common goal, setting aside their personal ambitions to serve for the common good. The various student clubs in the University put their manpower and technology to use to develop projects that find creative and sustainable solutions that benefit the community. Tree planting drives, blood donation camps, marathon in support of the victims of the Pulwama attacks, cyclathons in support of children with special needs – these annual initiatives are designed to help make a meaningful difference to the underserved.

Like every year the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Bangalore Section had organised an Annual General Meet (AGM) on 6th January 2019 at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore.
